Seeds of Wisdom
Paul wanted to be sure the Colossian Christians understood what they were to pray for. He wanted them to pray for a specific purpose. He wanted them to pray for him, asking God to open doors so that they could preach the gospel. It was the gospel that Paul lived for, it was the preaching of the gospel that had landed Paul in prison, it was the preaching of the gospel that was ever on the forefront of Paul’s mind.
According to the scriptures, God is all that His Word is. That is, anything that cannot stop God cannot stop His Word from having its way. God is the Creator and His Word creates solutions. During the first appearance of the Word, in the story of creation, it created a solution to a world that was in chaos.
Jesus Christ has dominion over all things, including men, angels, and demons; things in heaven, on earth and under the earth are subject to Him and obey His voice. We are His representatives and ambassadors on earth. He has given us dominion over all things. He exercises His authority today through us – the Church, which is His body.
Abraham was 75 years old when God called him to get out of his country and father’s house “on to a Land that I will show thee.” He responded in obedience to God and embarked on a journey which at the time seemed to be going nowhere, thus exemplifying what the life of faith is (Hebrews 11:8). Faith requires that you proceed solely based on God’s Word.
Moral excellence involves doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. According to Peter, virtue means principles, moral goodness, or excellence. God wants you to add virtue or moral principle to your faith. As important as faith is, there are certain things that God requires you to add to it, for you to have a life of constant productivity and ever-increasing glory.
Never be afraid of your adversaries or critics because they do not count and do not make them important by responding to their distractions. Irrespective of the situation, you must keep growing; keep winning; keep making progress and do not allow anything to stop you. The greater your critics seem, the more glorious your life shines.
Oftentimes we say that the Word works, yes it does, but in reality, the Word works when you work it. It does not work by itself. God gave us His Word to live and move by it. It then means when you believe in it, act on it with faith and do what it says you will see the reality and the blessing – James 1:25.
One will scarcely dare to die for a good person, but God sent His only begotten Son to die for us while we were still deep in our sins. Not that he had two sons and decided to send one to die for us. He had only one, and he sacrificed him to die for you, all because of the great love that He has for you.
How persuaded are you that God can do what He has promised? From the scripture, Abraham was persuaded/convinced that God was faithful to watch over His word and perform it without the help of anyone. Abraham was very old – about 100 years old – and his wife Sarah was 90 years old. Yet God told him that he would be the father of many nations.
No matter where you are at this moment, if you have not found God’s plan for your life, you need to pause, rethink, and ensure that His plan is your delight. Perhaps, you have steered off course, we all have at one point or another. Read the story of those God used and you will discover that blowing it is not unusual. It is part of the learning Curve.
It is not maybe God is your help, BUT surely, certainly, assuredly! God will help you; there is no doubt about it! He says He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. God is present in your situation. All you need to do is to call on Him to help you. He is not your past or future help, but a very present help.
What do you believe in? What or who have you trusted and put your faith in? Everything is failing around us; people are anxious and asking when all the issues facing the world be over. The passage above is Jesus’ response to the apostles when they feared for their lives during a storm. In whatever situation you find yourself, Jesus is with you.
There was a severe famine in the land after Elijah had declared that there would not be rain for three and a half years. God led him to the brook where He said: “You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to sustain you there [with food].” Elijah did as he was directed, and God fed him by the brook.
Faith is laying hold of the unseen realm of hope and bringing it into reality. Faith is a living force drawn from the living Word of God that produces living proofs or undeniable evidence. The faith that produces results must be Word-based. Anything your mind focuses on that is in line with the Word of God, will surely come to pass.
Sometimes people speak contrary to what God has revealed in His Word. Sometimes they pray for victory yet confess defeat. Have you ever prayed that God would meet your need, and then a day or two later you were saying that you are so worried that you do not know what you are going to do? Sometimes we wait too long to pray about a need.
God does not decide to be faithful on a whim or because it seems like the right thing to do. The first thing we must understand when thinking about God’s faithfulness is that He is faithful to His Name, Character, and Word. The faithfulness of God is deeply rooted and is manifested in who He is. God is very concerned about the reputation of His name.
Through His greatness, God created heaven, earth, and everything in them. God is a jealous God; He desires a close relationship with His people and does not want them to serve any other god. As His children, God wants us to reflect His character and glory, as He is holy, compassionate, good, and righteous.
God’s faithfulness is that He is true to His Word. When He makes a promise, He keeps it! He is a covenant keeper! The most significant covenant in the Old Testament is the one God made with Moses and the people of Israel at Mount Sinai. Deuteronomy 7:9 emphasises that God keeps His covenant of love, meaning that we can count on God’s faithfulness because it is consistent with His character.
Miracles, a topic of debate in Christianity, are still performed by God. The Bible records numerous miracles, such as parting the Red Sea, healing the sick, casting out evil spirits, and feeding a multitude. These miracles demonstrate God’s power and those similar to what we label as miracles in the Bible are challenging to deny.
God has no limits and has the power to do what He has determined to do in our lives. Paul states in Ephesians 3:20 that God can do exceedingly abundantly above our imagination, implying that God can exceed our expectations. Expectation always gives birth to manifestation. Many of us are pregnant with great things – business, enlargement, or new ideas.
