FAITH AMIDST THE STORM
Mark 4:40 – “He said to his disciples, why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
What do you believe in? What or who have you trusted and put your faith in? Everything is failing around us; people are anxious and asking when all the issues facing the world be over. The passage above is Jesus’ response to the apostles when they feared for their lives during a storm. In whatever situation you find yourself, Jesus is with you. The Christian walk is about faith, for “without faith, it is impossible to please God.”
Mark's account of the incident about the wind obeying Jesus indicates that there were other “little boats” on the sea with Jesus’ (Mark 4:36). This could imply that Jesus’ boat may have been bigger than the others and that those little boats were potentially being obstructive as the wind blew. However, Jesus did not allow them to distract him. I urge you to hold onto your faith and not let the little boats distract you. In pursuit of God’s agenda for your life, you may encounter storms that might cause you to say those who do not serve God are prospering whilst those serving Him struggle. The Psalmist admonishes us not to fret at evildoers (Psalm 37:1-3). He goes on to tell us to wait until we see their end, then we will glorify the Lord (Psalm 73:1-3 & 16-17). The Bible says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous.…” (Psalm 34:19) and “the just shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11). A person on an assignment will be confronted by a storm; do not give up! Rise to that challenge; it comes to increase your faith and put you on top.
