CHRIST TRIUMPHED OVER ALL POWERS
Colossians 2:15 – “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
In Colossians 2:15, Paul illustrates the triumph of Jesus on the cross over all the power of Satan by making a public show of it. Therefore, we have power and dominion over every force of darkness because of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Through the cross, we have victory over the power of the enemy. Paul tells us that at the cross, Jesus disarmed all of Satan’s forces and made a public spectacle of them. It was a bold display of total victory over the power of the enemy. ‘The picture is of conquered soldiers stripped of their clothes as well as their weapons to symbolise their total defeat.’ The phrase ‘triumphing over them’ showcases “a Roman General leading his captives through the streets of his city for all the citizens to see, as evidence of his complete victory.”
1 John 3:8 says: "He that committed sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this reason, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." We have confidence in the power of the blood and the sacrifice of the cross that we have victory over the works of the enemy and will by no means hurt you. Hebrews 12:24 says: “And to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.” It does not matter who or what speaks against you; there is a blood that is speaking better things; mercy, justification, redemption, victory, favour, and blessings consistently over your life. The blood of Jesus is the final say over your life, and it is the blood that brought you victory over all the power of the enemy. Therefore, enjoy your victory.
