THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US
Psalm 46:7 – “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
Are you facing an insurmountable obstacle and losing all hope of victory? Do you feel overwhelmed and powerless in your present circumstances? Then run into the Strong Tower of Jehovah Sabaoth and cry out to the LORD of hosts (God of the armies of heaven).
It is recorded that Martin Luther King composed one of the greatest hymns (A mighty fortress is our God). He is reported to have composed this hymn in the most difficult and gloomy time of his life. Martin Luther King acknowledged the sovereignty of the Most High in difficulty and that assured him of His ‘ever-present help’. We see two characteristics of the Lord of Hosts: His awesome continuous presence (always readily available) and Helper (reaching out to save and redeem). Where are you today in life’s journey? Are you tempest-tossed? The Lord of Hosts is with you and the God of Jacob is your refuge. He is not only ‘readily available’ and a ‘helper’, but also a ‘refuge’ (a fortress and a shield).
Our assurance is that the Lord of Hosts is with us, so we fear no foe. The sovereign LORD of hosts is always there for the one who comes to Him through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The King of glory, who commands the armies of heaven and who will eventually defeat all His enemies in this world, is none other than Jesus Christ. He is the LORD of hosts (Revelation 19:11–20).
