THE HEART OF DEDICATION
Mark 12:30 – “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.”
The word dedication is being sold out to a cause at a cost and the quality of being committed to a task or purpose. In other words, dedication is being planted and rooted in God. Our life is a seed; it must be planted in God’s hand so that we can blossom. Matthew 4:19 says, “follow me I will make you.” Among all the fishermen in the day of Peter his dedication to Jesus made him to discover a great purpose and his name is still mentioned till today. In our dedication, we stand for the interest of God. This is by choice not a gift. Joshua 24:15 says, “If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: ... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Dedication distinguished Daniel because all he stood for was the interest of God. When you make God your living focus, He makes you living evidence of His faithfulness. A dedicated person is not moved, discouraged, depressed by any situation. They are addicted to God and will never allow anything, to shift them from their commitments. Paul says in Romans 8:37, “Who shall ever separate us from the love of God.” The love of God is a key to dedication; you cannot be dedicated and not be consistent and committed. You cannot be committed and not have passion.
