GOD'S UNSLEEPING VIGILANCE

"That night the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king."

Esther 6:1

In the quiet of the night, when rest eluded King Xerxes, the sovereign ruler of the Persian Empire, something remarkable happened. Unable to find solace in sleep, he called for the records to be read before him. This seemingly ordinary event holds a profound truth for every believer that our God does not sleep nor slumber (Psalm 121:4). The insomniac king's restless night serves as a powerful reminder that God is always vigilant, aware of our circumstances, and ready to act on behalf of His people. When challenges arise, and the enemy schemes, God is already at work orchestrating a divine response.

Reflecting on Esther's narrative, we witness how Haman's sinister plot against Mordecai and the Jews ultimately backfired. God's timing was impeccable; the gallows intended for Mordecai became Haman's downfall. This echoes Romans 8:28, assuring believers that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him.

As we face our own struggles, let us draw strength from God's unwavering commitment to defend the righteous. God tells us in Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Therefore, as we journey through this year, know that our ever-watchful guardian, the Almighty God can be trusted. Be assured and rest in Him knowing that He has perfect timing and find comfort in the assurance that He is always at work for our good. May you rest in God’s unfailing love, knowing that He fights our battles.
