WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

Paul encourages Christians to "work out [our] salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12b), a call to walk with reverential fear of God, acknowledging His consideration of all things, even our thoughts and intents. This involves active participation, effort, dedication, and commitment to the ways of the Lord. It's a journey of transformation, where we align our lives with God's will, seeking to grow in holiness and righteousness. The fear is not paralysing, but a reverential awe and respect for the Almighty, acknowledging His sovereignty and holiness. This fear compels us to live in accordance with His Word, walk uprightly before Him, and flee from sin.

Let us walk the Christian walk with a deep sense of God's presence in our lives. To be sure that our acts and deeds are in line with His purpose, let us diligently examine our hearts and motives because He sees and knows our innermost thoughts and desires. A lifetime of trust, obedience, and closeness to our Heavenly Father is required to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. May we welcome this journey with all of our hearts, certain that He who started a good work in us will see it through to completion until the return of Christ, and beyond. As we continue in our relationship with God, let's not forget His assurance: "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). With His presence guiding and empowering us, we can walk in confidence, knowing that He is faithful to fulfil His purposes in our lives.
