Seeds of Wisdom

REMEMBERED BY MERCY

Isaiah 49:15: "Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion for the son of her womb? Even they may forget, but I will not forget you."

Mercy, a divine attribute of God, has the power to transform our lives in remarkable ways. Just as the Lord assured His people in Isaiah 49:15, His mercy causes us to be remembered even in times when we feel forgotten or forsaken. When Mephibosheth, crippled and seemingly forgotten, cried out for mercy, God used King David to lift him from a place of rejection and obscurity to a place of honour at the king's table (2 Samuel 9:7). Likewise, God will remember, favour, and lift you wherever you may have been forgotten or overlooked.

Mercy not only secures God's attention but also invites His intervention in our lives. When Blind Bartimaeus cried out for mercy, Jesus stopped and asked, "What do you want me to do for you?" (Mark 10:47–51). Similarly, when we feel discouraged or weary, our cries for mercy capture God's attention, and He steps in to move us forward. Whatever you need, God is ready to intervene and propel you towards His purpose and plan for your life.

Reflecting on mercy, we see God's patient and forgiving nature demonstrated on the cross. Despite being mocked and crucified, Jesus extended mercy to the repentant thief, promising him paradise (Luke 23:35–43). In the same way, God's mercy withholds the punishment we deserve and offers us forgiveness and redemption. Let us embrace God's mercy and extend it to others as we journey through life.
