THE CONSIDERATION
Job 1:8: “The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered and reflected on My servant Job? For there is none like him on earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God [with reverence] and abstains from and turns away from evil [because he honours God].”
God asks a question that has been asked throughout history in Job 1:8: "Have you considered my servant job?" This question captures a deep truth that Christians in the modern world need to understand: the fact that God is thinking about our lives. Every deed, every thought, and every word said are measured against the standard of God's judgement. He examines us, and we are not free from His examination; rather, we are responsible for our behaviour and morality. Our lives ought to be shaped by this consciousness, which ought to lead us to virtue and knowledge.
Being conscious of our actions is required when we live in the light of God's concern. It exhorts us to pursue justice with diligence, to love mercy, and to walk in honesty. The more we strive to glorify Him in all we do, the more our lives bear witness to His grace.
Remembering that we have obligations to both heaven and earth is important. May we live in wonder and reverence, conscious of the One who measures the weight of our hearts. Because His regard contains both grace and discipline, it leads us to live a life that pleases Him. As we go about our daily lives, let us not forget that our Creator is keeping an eye on us. May we live according to His justice and kindness, exalting His name in all that we do.
