THE FORGIVING GOD
Psalm 103:10-12 - “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
In Luke 5:21b, the question is posed: "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" This inquiry encapsulates the truth that forgiveness is inherent to the nature of our gracious God. He is kind and merciful, ready to forgive our sins, transgressions, and iniquities when we come to Him with sincere repentance.
Throughout the Bible, we see examples of God's willingness to forgive even the gravest of sins. David, despite his adultery and murder, found forgiveness when he repented with a contrite heart (Psalm 51). Jonah, though initially disobedient, experienced God's mercy and forgiveness when he turned back to Him (Jonah 3). Our sins, no matter how great, are not beyond the reach of God's forgiveness. His arms are always open wide, ready to receive us when we humbly come before Him, acknowledging our need for His mercy.
Let us not allow our sins to separate us from God or hinder our relationship with Him. Instead, let us follow the examples of David, Jonah, and countless others who found forgiveness and restoration in the loving arms of our gracious God. Come to Him today, for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Your sins are not too big for His grace to cover.
