MY JOY HAS COME

Psalm 30:5 - “For His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

The scripture above gives the assurance that although weeping may endure in the night, joy certainly would come in the morning. The night does not last forever! The book of Nehemiah also offers a guarantee and confidence of the strength the joy of the Lord provides. In a time like this where anger and fear exist, one must turn to the giver of joy. Nehemiah experienced a moment of frustration and antagonism when he embarked on the journey of building the broken-down walls of Jerusalem. One would imagine that he would be received gladly and supported to accomplish what God had laid in his heart, but the reverse was the case.

Happiness is an emotion expressed with ‘happenings’ (good things); where one’s mood and state of mind depend on what is happening. People are happy when they receive a pay rise/promotion and other material things. However, when they lose any of those things their happiness dwindles and sets them on the road to depression. The reason is because they have not embraced the Joy-Giver and Owner of all things including what they have lost. They do not have the understanding that God is able to give total restoration. Job and David received total restoration. Joy fosters hope that God is at work and will give the former and the latter. Embrace the joy giver and rejoice that your joy has come! Your expectations will not be cut short for He is FAITHFUL!
