WAIT ON THE LORD
Psalm 37:34 - “Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.”
Waiting on the Lord is not passive, it always comes with a condition. The Lord does not just ask us to wait on Him but as we wait on Him and ‘keep His way’, He brings the results - ‘exalt you to inherit the land’. To wait on the Lord is to shut all voices to hear clearly from the Lord; when you are waiting on the Lord for anything, shut all voices and say, "No matter what people say or think, until I hear the voice of God, I will not take any decision’. In the eyes of men, it may seem too long, but no one waits on the Lord in vain.
The reason why it is important to wait is that He owns us and sometimes there are obstacles that God needs to deal with to give us smooth sailing. Waiting is not a disadvantage; someone can rush to do things and another, on the other hand, would wait patiently on the Lord for directions and overtake the one that rushed, for God gives ‘divine speed’ (1 Kings 18:46).
Moses told the people ‘not to fear but to wait ...’ Imagine someone chasing you frantically to harm you and you are at the river bank, if care is not taken you might out of fear and desperation jump into the river and get drowned. But Moses told the people to “wait and see the salvation of the Lord….” (Exodus 14:13). Not even one defied Moses’ instructions; therefore, none of them was missing. The one we are waiting on is the one that knows the ‘end from the beginning’. Waiting on the Lord is not a waste of time. ‘He is everlasting…’
Wait on the Lord! For those who wait on the Lord are always victorious and the best is saved for them.
