WE ARE WELL ABLE TO POSSESS THE LAND
Number 13:30 - “Let us go up at once and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”
In Numbers 13, Moses sent twelve spies to explore the land of Canaan, which God had promised to the Israelites. When the spies returned, they reported that the land was indeed abundant, flowing with milk and honey. However, ten of the spies focused on the challenges facing the strong inhabitants, walled cities, and giants, leading to fear and doubt. But Caleb, one of the spies, boldly declared, “Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30). It takes confidence in God’s promise to see it manifest. Caleb knew that God, who has promised, can be trusted to give them the land. Psalm 44:3 says, “For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favoured them.”
Caleb had a positive perspective. While others saw obstacles, he saw opportunities. He viewed the situation through the eyes of faith. It takes faith and believing in God’s ability to stand when situations seem contrary. It is also vital to have the spirit of courage and determination to possess our promised land. Caleb’s words reflected courage and determination as he encouraged the people. Like the Israelites, we too face challenges and opportunities. When God makes promises, whether it is a personal goal, a dream, or a spiritual breakthrough, we can learn from Caleb, who trusted in God’s promises and saw obstacles as stepping stones. By being courageous and obedient, it is possible to possess all God has promised us because He fulfils His promises without fail.
