Seeds of Wisdom

ADD TO YOUR FAITH KNOWLEDGE

2 Peter 1:5 – “And beside this, giving diligence, add to your faith virtue; and knowledge.”

Peter is encouraging us to add knowledge to our faith. The knowledge he was referring to in this context is intellectual knowledge that can enhance our lives in general. God does not want us to have only revelational knowledge, but also knowledge about the natural things that constitute life. He wants us to be well-informed by acquiring the right information that builds our capacities and our personalities.  Anyone who ignores knowledge is setting himself up to fail. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Learn something definite every day. You need knowledge to be the best in your field. Read books; make every effort to be skillful. This will make you competent. It will enhance your confidence and make you more effective and productive in what you do. To open your mind to knowledge does not mean reading every available stuff. You must be selective when searching for information so that you do not engage yourself in what will waste your time and energy. Let the Holy Spirit guide and lead you to the information that will enhance and advance you. Knowledge and skills promoted Joseph and Daniel in a foreign land. You can experience the same lifting if you raise your standard.
