HE DOES MARVELLOUS THINGS

Isaiah 25:1 – “O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvellous things, things planned long ago.”

God’s faithfulness is that He is true to His Word. When He makes a promise, He keeps it! He is a covenant keeper! The most significant covenant in the Old Testament is the one God made with Moses and the people of Israel at Mount Sinai. Deuteronomy 7:9 emphasises that God keeps His covenant of love, meaning that we can count on God’s faithfulness because it is consistent with His character. His love speaks of His mercy as a “covenant of love.” God had promised to bring His people out of Egypt; He fulfilled that promise!

Numbers 23:19 tells us that "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" Thus, we can trust that whatever God has promised, He will fulfil it. He is faithful to the covenants that He has made because He seeks to maintain the reputation of His name. He is faithful because He is true to the character that He has declared and demonstrated Himself to be. If God is thus true, we have every reason to rely on Him and hold on to every promise that He has made, because no matter how long it takes, He will make it good.
